Getting Back in Shape Before 30
A 70 Day Running Challenge to reverse the narrative behind aging
I’m getting fat…so I decided to do something about it. With my 30th birthday coming up, I’m challenging myself to get back into shape over the next 10 weeks.
For 70 days, starting on March 15th, I will be running every single day until my birthday on May 24th.

Why Running?
I chose running because I used to love it when I was younger. I ran track and cross country in high school, kept it up in college, but in the last few years, I completely fell off. Now, I want to bring it back as a healthy habit and see what I’m capable of.
I expect this challenge to be extremely hard, but I’m up for it.
I’m also doing this as a bit of injury prevention training—I don’t want to end up like Kevin Hart.
If you don’t know what happened, he tried to run a 40-yard dash against an NFL player and tore muscles in his hips and abs, leaving him in a wheelchair.
I’m not completely convinced that wouldn’t happen to me if I had to sprint full speed, so I’m taking action now before it’s too late.
The Plan
This isn’t just a running challenge. Alongside daily running, I’ll be:
Doing core exercises after each run
Lifting weights 4 times a week
Eating healthy the entire time
As a former personal trainer, I know 70 days is a relatively short time when it comes to body recomposition and weight loss, but I’m curious to see the changes my body will go through by the end of it.
What I’m Most Excited About
More than the weight loss, I’m excited about getting back into running and proving to myself that I can still do it.
People always say that things start to go downhill at 30. I want to be the exception to that rule.
My Starting Point
Right now, I weigh 188 pounds. Let’s see where this challenge takes me in 70 days.
I’ll still be making my usual content, but I’ll include updates on my journey at the end of my videos so you guys can keep me accountable and see that I’m sticking with it.
To recap:
Running and core exercises every single day for 70 days
Lifting weights 4 times a week
Eating in a caloric deficit
Challenge ends on May 24th—my 30th birthday
Let’s do this. My name’s J-Hopes—Peace!
